The DARCHE Solar Roof Top Tent is the world's first hard shell roof top tent with a 148W solar panel integrated directly into the shell. Built for campers who want to stay powered up in remote locations without running extra cables or carrying separate panels, it combines a genuinely comfortable sleeping setup with a self-contained power system that starts working the moment the sun comes out.

Integrated 148W Solar Panel

The standout feature of the Solar Roof Top Tent is its fully integrated 148W monocrystalline silicon solar panel, built flush into the hard shell lid. With a 22% efficiency rating, an open circuit voltage of 26.0V, and a short circuit current of 7.5A, the panel delivers meaningful charging output across a wide range of conditions. USB ports inside the tent provide direct access to solar-generated power for charging phones, cameras, and other devices throughout the day. The panel is rated to operate across a temperature range of -40°C to 80°C, making it a reliable performer from alpine winters to summer outback heat.

Please note: A battery and solar regulator are not included. Contact a local solar specialist for the right setup to suit your requirements. Grey and red Anderson plugs are not interchangeable, so you will need one of each to connect the tent to your regulator.

Darche Darkness® Canvas Technology

The body of the Solar Roof Top Tent is constructed from a breathable 380gsm polycotton canvas featuring Darche Darkness® technology. This proprietary fabric is engineered to reduce interior light levels and lower internal temperatures compared to standard polycotton canvas, making it significantly more comfortable to sleep in during warm mornings when the sun is already up. It also minimises condensation inside the tent overnight, helping to keep the sleeping environment drier and more comfortable across all seasons. The canvas carries a 3000mm waterhead rating for reliable rain protection.

Exceptional Ventilation and Natural Light

Ventilation in the Solar Roof Top Tent is handled through three full-width doors and a zippered sky window, giving you flexible control over airflow throughout the day and night. All openings are fitted with fine one-way insect mesh, which allows air to circulate freely while keeping insects out. The sky window in particular is a standout feature, providing a direct view of the stars on clear nights and natural daylight when you want it without compromising weather protection when it's closed.

70mm Memory Foam Mattress With Anti-Condensation Mat

Sleep quality is a priority in the Solar Roof Top Tent. A 70mm memory foam mattress provides substantial comfort and support, sitting on top of a 10mm anti-condensation mat that prevents moisture from building up between the mattress and the aluminium honeycomb base panel. The combination delivers a sleeping surface that stays comfortable and dry across a wide range of weather conditions, from humid coastal nights to cold alpine mornings. When the tent is closed for travel, there is ample room inside the shell to store at least two sleeping bags and two pillows, along with additional gear.

Bi-Colour LED Lighting Built In

Integrated bi-colour LED lights are fitted inside the tent, switchable between warm amber and bright white. Amber is ideal for winding down at night without disrupting your sleep cycle, while white provides clear functional light when you need to find gear or read inside the tent. Having lighting built directly into the shell means no hanging lanterns, no separate power cables, and no accessories to pack and unpack at each campsite.

Effortless Setup With Stabilus Gas Struts

German-engineered Stabilus gas struts, used across a wide range of high-quality automotive and industrial applications, make opening and closing the Solar Roof Top Tent smooth and controlled in any temperature. The tent deploys in minutes and holds its position without assistance. The included 2.3m aluminium telescopic ladder provides safe and easy access for most vehicle heights, up to a maximum vehicle or bed base height of 2.2m.

Aviation-Grade Aluminium Shell and All-Season Weather Protection

The shell is constructed from 2mm 6-Series aluminium alloy, the same grade used in aviation and high-performance engineering applications. The base is a heavy-duty 15mm aluminium honeycomb insulation panel that adds structural rigidity while providing a degree of thermal insulation from below. Overlapping side extrusions along the shell edges create an additional barrier against wind-driven rain, working alongside high-profile automotive-grade rubber weather seals, taped seams, and twin-needle stitching throughout the body. A 420D polyester Oxford ripstop fly with a 2000mm waterhead rating adds a further layer of protection in sustained wet weather. Self-repairing coil zips and reinforced stitching on all stress points ensure the tent holds up through years of regular use. UPF 50+ protection is built into the fabric.

Internal Storage and Organisation

Internal side pockets and a roof storage net keep essentials organised and within reach without cluttering the sleeping area. A shoe bag accessory is included in the box. When packed down for travel, the tent's compact hard shell profile keeps weight and roofline impact to a minimum.

Installation Information

The included mounting rails suit most commercially available flat roof rack or roof rail systems. Always check the weight rating and suitability of your roof rack and vehicle with the relevant manufacturer before purchase. Professional installation through a local 4WD centre or DARCHE retailer is strongly recommended.

Battery and solar regulator not included, please contact your local solar panel specialist for products to best suit your requirements. Please also be aware that grey and red Anderson plugs are not interchangeable, you will need one of each to connect your tent to your regulator.

Soft keyboards ( updated)
The keys fell off very easily after only 2.5 months of use. It is a nice and smooth keyboard. I like it, but it didn't last even 3 months. I am trying to get it repaired by them since it was so recent that I got it- I will update this review later once I hear from the manufacturer. This is an update to my original post. I am extremely impressed with the quality of customer service and how fast they addressed my concerns regarding the product and they honestly back up their product. Not only did they respond fast, but they also replace my keyboard. Not just fix it, replaced the whole thing and it is also backed by their manufacturer warranty. I’m so happy and love that I get to have my keyboard back to use for hopefully a lot longer this time. It truly is a comfort keyboard and I love how smooth the keys feel when typing for long periods of time. Thanks guys for the prompt response! Today 3/27/2026 I received my brand new keyboard to replaced the one with the broken keys and I’m so happy to it back again and fully working thanks guys for the great customer service. Truly appreciate it.

Great keyboard at the right price
I bought this to replace my old Logi Ergo K860. I like the idea of curved keyboard. But the distance between my left and right hands on Ergo K860 was bothering me ever since I bought it 5 years ago. I would say I never got used to it. The Ergo started to act up one day with one key F not working properly. I tried to fix it and considered getting another one, then I saw this keyboard with a much better price. So I took the chance and went with this cheaper option. I like this one better than Ergo for the following reason: 1. The layout is more comfortable. Yes, it took me a while to get used to it like I would with any keyboard. I don't have to twist my wrists to reach any keys. 2. Keys are not too loud. It's not going to silent, but better than Ergo. 3. Battery life is great. I make a living by typing my keyboard. I only charged this keyboard once so far (4 months). 4. The price is great for what I got.

Good keyboard, some auxiliary keys are moved from where I was used to
I've only been using this for a day, so I can't speak about battery life. It is rechargeable, and it has an on-off switch for saving the battery when I'm not using it, so I don't know what more I could ask for on that front. Likes: the main keyboard is definitely ergonomic and feels comfortable; the key action is not silent, which I actually like, and the scissor action switches underneath the keys feels good to me; the keyboard is about 1.5" narrower than my previous keyboard (Logitech Ergo K860) because the number pad is right next to the regular part of the keyboard, and the usual keys in between have been rearranged. Most of these changes will just require the user to get used to the new positions. However, the Home, End, Pgup and Pgdn keys are now Function keys, piggybacking on the arrow keys, and that may cause more trouble for people who use those a lot (I don't, so I don't mind it). Dislikes: experience has shown me that dust and crud get into the space between the wrist pad and the rest of the keyboard. On my old keyboard, I could remove the wrist pad using some tiny screws in the back, and take the pad out for thorough cleaning. With this keyboard I won't be able to do that, so time will tell how aggravating that will be. Maybe I'll have to take it down to my shop and blow out the crud with the air compressor (joking, probably not a good idea). Overall, not quite 5 stars, but close. If it lasts better than the Logitech, I may come back and put in that last star. Update: It has lasted about 20 months, and I'm going to have to replace it. I may buy another one, 20 months is pretty good for the amount of use I have gotten out of it, but I'm going to search to see if anything new and better is around. Symptoms seem to indicate that the rechargeable battery is not taking a charge any more. The keyboard works find when it is plugged in, but when I unplug it, after a few minutes it goes wacky.

Arrived Battery DOA - But then something unexpected happened.
This was a one star review because the unit arrived with a batter that would not hold charge for more than a minute. I am not changing the stars, because if you are like me, you read the one star reviews cause so many companies pay for fake 4 and 5 star reviews. When I first posted this review I also initiated a return and just planned to move on to another brand. I was surprised when I got a personal email from the Arctek Service Team offering to send me a replacement free of charge. With nothing to lose I figured why not? The new unit arrived and I put a full charge on it and put it to work. I chose this keyboard because it is the closest in layout to the original Microsoft ergo split keyboard, no longer in production, that I have used for years and truly enjoy. I am pleased to report that the battery is working fine and the keyboard performs flawlessly. No skipped strokes or stuck keys, no glitches with the proprietary wireless interface to the laptop (when I am using it on the desk with a large screen). My hat is off to the Arctek service team and management. A company that cares enough about its reputation and customers to go to so much effort to take care of a customer with such a small dollar item sale is a company you can expect to rely on. From now on when I want electronic gear on Amazon, I am going to use the word Arctek in my search.

Incredible
1 year update: I have been using this keyboard daily at work for almost one year and my 5 star review stands. Upon receiving the keyboard I charged it before use, and since then I have not charged it at all and it is still somehow at 75% battery!! I turn it off at night when I’m done. One of the function keys broke off in a way where I can’t reattach it, but I reached out to customer support and they sent me a free replacement keyboard. Great customer service and warranty! Original review: I love this keyboard. I am a grant writer so I write and edit all day. It has really leveled up my typing experience and has made work much more comfortable. It puts my hands in a natural position so my wrists no longer bend at odd angles. I adapted to the split key design in minutes. The keys have an excellent feel and sound to them and the wrist pad feels like a soft cloud. I’ve had no connectivity issues and so far the battery has been stellar. It also has rubber grippers on the bottom so it stays firmly in place on my desk and doesn’t move around like my old keyboard did. I went for this one because I didn’t want to spend $100+ on a keyboard and I’m really impressed with the quality.
